We are also carfree. I find that to be the one saving grace in my life right now. I firmly believe that getting rid of the car greatly improved our quality of life. I'm working on a book about it, but I have no idea how to convince anyone who is not already convinced that our life is better. It seems that I can only preach to the choir in a book like that, and I am still trying to see my way through to a vision of the United States with more bicycle and pedestrian traffic than automobiles, frequent and comfortable trains, thriving local farming communities, and a well-educated, television weaned populace. I hope that's not taking on too much.
