The event itself is meant to remind the bystander and reaffirm to the participant that the streets belong to the people; not corporations, cars, or the government. It is the people's efforts that produced the roads themselves, and Reclaim The Streets simply means that for a period of time the masses are going to take back what is theirs and do what they choose with it.See also:
