Colin's fourth update: What I learned in the past two and a half years.

I learned to sit. I grew a garden. Permaculture and buddhism may help us be at peace.

A mystery is why anything stops or starts.

I can look at what I've stopped or started in the past two and a half years and see signs of change.

Stopped:

Graduate school, and the vision of contentness described in my last update.

Reading the newspaper.

Significantly reduced:

Reading and writing.

Internet and computer use (generally once a week or less often).

Started:

A garden.

Sitting still for an hour twice each day.

Attaching steps to breath. For example, taking one step while breathing in, one step while breathing out.

Continued or evolved:

My ITP Kata-based practice.

My infrequent work as a teambuilding facilitator and outdoor trip leader.

A daydream

The Walking Sangha could live at least two thirds of the time in roadless areas and help others to walk to sites of earthcare and peoplecare.

What do I want you to learn from what I'm doing?

To be at peace.
