Ira Progoff: what he means to me

I mention Progoff so much, I thought I should have a page explaining a bit about what I mean by Progoff.

I had been just linking to Progoff's intensive journal web site.

I found out about Progoff by reading about Wilber in Tony Schwartz' What Really Matters: Searching for Wisdom in America.

I managed to get my hands on some of Progoff's books and found them rather wordy for the amount of valuable content.

I tried typing in some of the more helpful parts, which may be found (until Progoff finds this and complains... unless he decides this is in fact better for him and the world) by searching my notes/journal at experienceart. You'll have to dig through extraneousness there as well.

The basic thing I remember from Progoff was his answer to the question he once posed to himself: If the Nazis succeeded in burning all the religious texts in the world, what would happen then? ... They would come from where they came from before.

Progoff's work is about teaching people to get to that place in themselves where sacred work comes from. It is partly about getting into a quiet twilight state .

Progoff's work is also one of the few answers I've felt happy with to the reservations I have about things like pychotherapy (see Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, or Google (I read Against therapy); McLeod)).
